Double-Bobbin for Ashford Joy Spinning Wheel

Double-Bobbin for Ashford Joy Spinning Wheel

As I always wanted a bobbin with two seperate chambers for spinning and plying afterwards, I designed this double-bobbin for my Ashford Joy spinning wheel. With this bobbin, both halfs of the bobbin can be filled with singles. And afterwards they can be plied together and the yarn will fill a complete bobbin. The designed bobbin has a coupling part, so on the spinning wheel both halfs turn together. And on a lazy cate the coupling can be removed and both halfs turn alone, so that they can be plyed together. A complete bobbin printed is in development and will be available here soon. I used IGUS bearings MFI-0405-06 and the design of the bobbin does not need drilling if your printer is well adjusted. Both pars "Zwischenscheibe" and "Doppelspule" fit together without clueing in my case, but they can be clued if neccessary. Please note: as Nylon and PLA seem to interact with electrostatical charging I use a hemp string as brake for the bobbin. Printed in 0,05mm layer height it has a smooth surface for the brake tension string. Sorry for the yarn: I can spin better, but for this test I wasn´t as concentrated on the yarn quality :-)
