Double Filament Spool
thingiverse
To organize up to four small filament amounts on a single (Ultimaker) spool, I designed this accessory as the Ultimaker features dual extrusion capabilities. Test materials from different suppliers often come with short 5-meter samples, which can tangle easily. To address this issue, I created a device that allows you to mount four colors on your printer. To print the required parts: 1 Core 2 Mids 6 Arms 6 Frames (optional) Assemble using M3x12mm Metric Stainless Button Head Socket Cap Screws. Attach 3 arms to each mid, with the holes on the sides of the arms facing outward and the curve of the mids facing inwards (as shown in the picture). Repeat for all parts. Mount the mids onto the core, with the curved ends first. Adjust the mini-spools in opposite directions to check friction. Optionally, attach a ring to the outside of each arm to provide a safe stand for the spool. This device can accommodate two 20-inch "small" meters of filament rolled onto it.
