A final possibility for the liquid extraction is to use a Double Stage Pneumatic Gari Press Machine. Grounded cassava is loaded directly through the existing hopper. This drops through the suction end to the new design which is perforated at the bottom in the receiving chamber with a liquid collection basin on the bottom of the secondary press unit. The pneumatic press is then operated using directional control valve to move downwards to squeeze the moisture content from the grounded cassava and then release upwards. By swinging the perforated plate at the bottom, the grounded cassava drops to the second stage where it is finally pressed before frying takes place. The pneumatic press can apply a large force to small area. This double stage process increases the amount of moisture removed from the mash as compared to the other designs.
