This is the design of a sustainable future city that provides energy to its citizens by using nuclear reactors. This design was accomplished by one one of my students in class based on my lessons on how to model 3D buildings with Tinkercad in conjunction with a class challenge on designing a city 100 years in the future. Here are the steps: 1 first students researched about cities and what makes a city; 2 they brainstormed current city problems; they pick a problem, research it and typed a city description ; the next step was to use tinkercad to create a 3D model of a future city that shows their solution to the issue picked ; revise their 3D model to better address the problem; Design a City 100 years in the future Objectives: Students will be able to model their solution to a current city problem by designing a future city. Audience: 7th graders Preparation: Students have conducted research, brainstormed ideas and define a problem they can use in their 3d model of the city. They also practiced Tinkercad to get familiar with the 3d program. Steps: following the engineering design process, the students worked in teams or individually to accomplish the task of creating a futuristic city that is science based. Results: the students have accomplished their designs in tinkercad and revised them to better address the specific problem they picked in the city description part. The students have combined science and technology using a STEM approach.
