Meet the dragonboard! I started designing a skateboard wheel, but ended up with a fully 3D printable longboard/cruiser. Why only make accessories right??

This board is a 800x180mm sized longboard/cruiser, mainly for kids. Mainly for some light action ;).

Assembly

In the files you can find two types of frames:

a full length frame that can be printed without support on a belt printer

frame cut into 4 pieces that fit a Prusa and can be printed without support. there are only a few small bridges.

When you print the frame in parts you can decide to use the middle sections with or without my name in it and you can use the front part twice if you dont want the rear block.

The frame has two slots for a 450mm 15x15mm aluminium profile (U or square) to prevent excessive flex of the frame. Also the inner cavity could be filled. Especially when you made the frame out of the 4 pieces you will need to add these profiles and glue them inside the frame to prevent cracking.

There is a picture included with some explanation for assembling the truck and wheel. When inserting the core into the wheel, the TPU must be heated carefully first. Then you can hammer it in or as I did it, just stand on it. After this the core wont go anywhere! The bearings can be pushed in easily, so they can be taken out for maintenance.

To insert the shaft in the truck top, you need to drill out the hole first to ensure a good fit. To assemble the truck top o the base, first insert the bushings in the truck base, then press the top in.

To help assembly there are a few overview pictures, please check them first.

The following hardware is needed to complete the build:

2x 220mm precision 8mm steel shaft

2x M8 50mm bolt + nut + washer

3x M4x16 bolts for the rear block + 3x M4 short thermal inserts

8x M4x10 bolts + nuts for mounting the trucks to the frame

2xM5x16 to reinforce the truck top pin

8x collar ring for on the 8mm shaft to hold the shaft and wheel in place

8x 608 bearings (2 each wheel)

Printing

I used the following materials for the board:

CPE/Petg for the frame, wheel core and dragon eyes

TPU 98 for the wheel tyre, top grip, rear block and bushings

Carbon CPE for the trucks

I did use materials from Fillamentum in the photos.

The frame was printed with a 0.8mm nozzle, 3 perimeters and 20% infill. The TPU parts were printed with a 0.8mm nozzle too and 5 perimeters. The trucks were printed with a 0.5 hard steel nozzle and need also 5 perimeters and at least 25% infill. None of the models need support.

The plug and eye have a left and right version in the model, just mirror them in Prusaslicer.

Have fun with it!

*** DISCLAIMER ***

Still Work in progress! I am in the progress making it myself and haven't tested it yet. To prevent quick wear on the wheels I used a very hard TPU (98A). Make and use it on your own risk!
