UPDATE 20150503: Included original pinion/gear for completeness. UPDATE 20150412: New rack in 2 depths. I'm using the 11mm version for a good mate with the gear. Old rack removed. UPDATE 20150406: I had to pack out the bottom dremel mount by about 1mm to get it vertical and the rack by about 1mm to improve the gear interaction. I'm working on an improved rack (pending print and testing). I've added a new height adjustment clip that's inserted below the spring to increase the height (in 10mm and 20mm variants). I like the drill press by mitchnajmitch but wanted to make some tweaks, additions, and reduce the required filament. I really like how this turned out but already have a few more tweaks and additions in mind. Printed in PLA, 0.3mm layer, 3 perims/top/bottom, 25% honeycomb infill except for the knob which is 16% honeycomb infill. I used 5/16 threaded rod because that's what I had but you can use 8mm. Smooth rod is 8mm. Threaded rod holes are 7mm so they can be tapped (use a tap, it's much easier/better). All bolts are M3 and the nuts press fit. Parts - M3 bolts (and nuts): 30mm x 4, 25mm x 1, 20mm x 8, 16mm x 5. - Springs: 10mm inner diameter x 2. - Screws x 4 for fixing the base to some board or your bench. - LM8UU bearings or 3D printed equivalent x 4. - 5/16 or 8mm threaded rod: 15cm x 1, 10cm x 1. - Nuts for threaded rod: Regular nuts x 5 and lock nuts x 2 or, regular nuts x 6 and lock nuts x 1. 3 or 4 washers. Press fit a regular nut into the handle elbow and the gear. - 8mm smooth rod: 30cm x 4. Modifications - Top: New. - Base: New. Designed to be fixed to a board or your bench and provides more work area. - Clamp: Rounded corners. - Rack: New. Full length in 2 depths. I'm using the 11mm version for a good mate with the gear. Countersinks for bolt heads. - Slider: Rounded corners and added down arrow cutout. - Slider Bearing Cap: Rounded corners. - Handle Elbow: New. Smaller. - Handle Knob: New. - Dremel Top Mount: Added nut countersinks for them to press fit. - Dremel Bottom Mount: Added nut countersinks for them to press fit.
