This drill press was modeled from drawings in the book "Engineering Drawing" by Thomas E. French and Charles J. Vierck. The model is about 2 feet tall overall and the Quill Feed is fully modeled and constrained together, gears are 14DP and have a pressure angle of 20º. The Counter-shaft runs at 400 RPM with corresponding spindle speeds of 300 & 630 RPM. The Head of the drill press islaid out with line curves then interpolated a spline, the Head could have easily been designed with simple circle arcs however this was probably intended to be a test of a draftsman's ability and less about cost effective design.
