Drill Press Power Switch Box

Drill Press Power Switch Box

I have a Wen 12" Drill Press with variable speed, which is nice, but even when the drill press is turned off the speed gauge remains lit at all times unless the machine is unplugged. this has been bothersome to me so I created a switch box to cut the power to the drill press without having to unplug it all the time. This essentially turns the added switch to a machine power on switch while the original switch controls if the spindle is on or not. Word of Caution: this box cuts the main power cord and adds a mains voltage switch, which can be dangerous if not done properly. Construction is rather simple, you will need 4 M3 x 10mm screws with matching nuts to secure the cable clamps on the top and bottom and 4 M4 screws to secure the lid on the case after wiring. These 4 are threaded right into the plastic base. Lastly, you will need a hose clamp that fits your drill press for mounting. I used a 2.5" one. The Switch used is an Appliance Rocker Switch, Illuminated rated 16A @ 125V AC Panel cutout of .55in x 1.125in STEP file included for Modification as needed.
