Driver Station Post for Portable VRC Field

Driver Station Post for Portable VRC Field

thingiverse

This thing mounts a VRC driver interface on the VEX portable competition field. Similar posts are included with the metal field perimeter, but the portable field does not natively include any way to attach the driver interfaces to the field. In addition to the 3D printed parts, a ½" schedule 40 PVC pipe is used as the post. Pipes of this size have been used in every VRC game for the last several years, so most teams should already have some available. The length of the pipe isn't critical but somewhere between 24 to 30 inches feels about right. To assemble 1 post, print the following parts: * 1 copy of `Perimeter Mount.stl` – this is the c-shaped clamp that attaches the pipe to the field perimeter. * One of the two options to attach the driver interface to the top of the pipe – either: * 1 each of `Sm. Top Bracket - Bottom Part.stl` and `Sm. Top Bracket - Top Part.stl` * 1 of `Lg. Top Bracket.stl` * Optionally, 1 or 2 of `Cable Clip.stl` to manage the cable connecting the driver interface to the match controller. The small top bracket prints faster and uses less plastic, but relies on the driver interface itself to provide structural rigidity. The large top bracket is a single piece and also includes a couple of hooks to manage each driver's cable when not connected to the controller. Additionally, some #8 machine screws and nuts will be needed to attach the driver interface and secure the post to the perimeter. The screw for the perimeter mount should be at least 3.5" long; the 4 screws to attach the driver interface should be 0.75" - 1". If using the large top bracket, the driver interface could be attached with zip ties instead. All parts are designed to be printed without support.
