Dry Box Spool Holder
thingiverse
Feast your eyes on yet another dry box filament spool holder. Yes, I know there's already tons out there, but this one has a few changes that I prefer over other popular ones. Maybe you'll like the changes as well. First off, the idea is to be able to quickly swap around filaments which is the reason for the open topped rod supports (yes I know that's already a common feature on other designs). However, I also wanted to use bearings. One of my filament paths is nearly 2m long so I need to reduce rolling friction as much as possible. Therefore, the roller is suspended by two 608 bearings on the threaded rod. The roller has eight holes so that you can install the end clips at varying widths to fit your particular roll of filament. This design is based around a 5/16" threaded rod and 608 bearings. While the rod support will nicely fit 11/32" nuts (it's what I had on hand), 5/16" and 8mm nuts will work as well with a little slop. Please keep in mind that this is a work in progress thing. Revisions, files, and further instructions will be added as time goes on.
