Dryer exhaust vent flap

Dryer exhaust vent flap

thingiverse

The dryer exhaust port outside my house has 3 flaps which blow open when the dryer is running and close when the air stops. One of the flaps recently broke, necessitating a replacement. Approximate dimensions: Body of flap: 104mm (width) x 32mm (height) x 1.5mm (thickness) Retention tabs: 2.5mm (diameter) x 4.3mm (length) Material considerations: In the USA, dryer exhaust temperatures are regulated to NOT exceed 180°F (82°C). Since it will also be used outdoors, sun/heat are also factors to consider when choosing a print material. As you probably know, the glass transition temperatures for common 3D filaments are: PLA: 60°C PETG: 88°C ABS: 105°C Therefore, PLA is NOT recommended for this print! PETG would be the minimum, with ABS being probably the more ideal material. Print Settings Printer Brand: FlashForge Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Notes: I printed with 20% rectilinear infill. It is important for the infill to be at a 45% angle against the long-edge of the vent, rather than parallel to the edge, for strength reasons: http://www.sparxeng.com/blog/mechanical/3d-print-orientation-effect-part-strength
