DSLR Christmas Ornament – Paperweight Camera DSLR Holiday Ornament, Christmas Light Cover, Tree Decoration and paperweight. Finished dimensions: 3.5in x 2in x 2.125in (89mm x 51mm x 54mm) The DSLR ornament is created by combining 4 separate 3D prints. This results in a much more detailed model that does not require supports and is easy to adapt to different color schemes. Each part is keyed for easy assembly and gluing. Top – Print time 1:50 Body – Print time 2:42 Lens – Print time 1:07 Bottom – Print time 1:00 ------------------------ Total Print time 6 hours, 39 minutes Bottom with Hole – this is the same base part but has a hole in the center. Use this base plate when printing parts of the camera with translucent filament. When hanging on a Christmas tree, you may width to insert a LED tree light in the base for a glowing effect. Hangers – These are small loops that can be glued to the camera top plate for string, ribbon, wire or other tree hanger. These four pieces must be glued together to make a complete ornament. While not as convenient as an all-in-one print, this gives the best detail, filament economy, and ease of creation while making a great looking ornament or decoration. The photos show a “Christmas Ornament with Strings and Snap Hanger" ordered from Amazon.com. You can use superglue or plastic glue/cement to assemble your ornament. Be careful not to get the glue on the outside finish of your parts. You can also glue a small hanger loop to use for attaching a string, wire, ribbon, or other hanger. Note the offset position to glue this to as it will help balance the ornament when hanging. When using superglue, use sparingly and try to keep away from the outside of the model. Wear disposable gloves to keep the glue off your fingers. To obtain a DSLR look, it is most effective to print the top, base and lens in a silk silver, and then a traditional camera black filament for the body. Sinc these are ornaments and strictly decorative in nature, you can go crazy on the color combinations! You can see some examples in the photos. The parts are “keyed”, so they hold their position while waiting for the glue to set. A transparent body ornament can be made using the Body.stl file and slicing it in “Vase” mode with transparent filament. It is a little more challenging to glue as the top of the base is very thin. When placed on the Christmas tree you can insert one of the Christmas lights inside the ornament to shine through. Use the .stl file, Base with Hole. This base has a hole to allow you to put the bulb inside the ornament. Be sure to only use a LED or other low heat lamp.
