I bought this nice LED video light called Luxpad 22 which is really nice and cheap. To improve it I already made this barndoors (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2125573). Now I wanted to mount it on my DSLR rig. The orginal mount ist for 3/8 inch skrews or the flashlight hotshoe. At the pad itself has also a flashlight hotshoe. I decided to create a rig mount with a ball joint to be more fexible. It consits of a hotshoe with a threaded bolt, a screw nut to thighten the hotshoe to the pad. A ball joint which is fitted to the threaded bolt of the hotshoe, and a screw nut to tighten the ball joinzt to the ball socket, which is fitted to the rig. To mount to the rig I used an M5 screw with Handle, the M5 thread is cut with a thread cutter. The threaded bolt at the hotshoe is no standard thread. I tried to produce different threads, and figured out that my printer is not acurate enough to print them. For good results,I needed a pitch of 2.5mm/per step. Also I had some problems with the hotshoes threaded bolt, because it ihas a very small area which has to withstand a lot of force. The first threads were very brittle. They broke right a the threaded bolts base, when a litte tension was aplied. So I decided to print the hotshoe with a tilt of 7° degrees, with support the structure touching build plate. So the fiber allingment is aslant to the thread and wraps more then one step at once, giving it more stability. It's still a litte shaky, but it works. I think I will replace the hotshoe with a metal one, from ebay. This is reason, why this Project is still "work-in-progress". UPDATE I added an extra hole to the bolt in the hotshoe, you can screw in a normal 15mm wood screw. This gives the hotshoe extra stability and now, nothing will crack again ;)
