Dual cogs

Dual cogs

pinshape

This is the next edition in the Cogs series. The first edition consisted of single cogs of various sizes. Building of this, the idea was to create dual cogs were both cogs were printed as a single item stack. Again this was created in BlockCAD, making use of the procedures previous created but modified for two cogs as a stack. Once the procedures have been debugged it allows you to create any number of cogs and two cog combinations as long as the lower cog has more teeth than the upper cog. If you need to smaller cog on the bottom just flip the finished item. There was some adjustment of the font size, making it a little smaller and making sure the holes in the upper cog continued though to the cog below with no overlap. Additional  holes were placed between the perimeter formed by both cogs, to remove un-necessary material, reduce filament and print time whilst maintaining strength. This series consists of 5 cog pairs. 1: 50t + 25t 2: 40t + 20t 3: 30t + 15t 4: 20t + 10t 5: 10t + 05t where t = teeth. As the elements are all created by running code it is very simple to change the number and combination of cogs. The smaller the cogs the greater the difficulty in printing subject to printer capabilities, hence settled on 10t + 05t as a minimum. Print details Size 96.6mm x 76.6mm x 5mm Infill: 80% Base: Brim Filament length: 4.99m Layer Height: 0.15mm Material weight: 15g  Time 1Hr 46min at 100% scale.
