Maurizio Cattelan, the artist behind Toiletpaper and that solid-gold john that used to be in the Guggenheim, duct taped a banana to a wall at Art Basel, titled it Comedian, and sold it for $120,000. He made three of the works and, after selling the second for another $120,000, upped the asking price on the third to $150,000.

I made a 3D model of the Duct Tape Banana for you guys to print and either hang it just like any other art or even has provision for magnets to stick it to any metallic surface!

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

Prusa Mk2

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

Banana - 200um or .2mm | Duct Tape 350um or .35mm

Infill:

10%

Filament:
[

Notes:

The banana needs support for just the head. Should take around 3hrs 40mins for the banana at 3 perimeters and 10% infill with support on build plate. Duct Tape should take around 1hr 10 mins.

Post-Printing

Just add some black paint or use a whiteboard/ permanent marker to make the banana look more real. Magnets of 8mm by 2mm if required (2 slots given). Might have to heat the duct tape part using the heat gun and bend it inwards to make it sort of a perfect fit for the banana!

Category: Sculptures
