Dune: Imperium, Rise of Ix Expansion - Dreadnought
When I bought the Deluxe version of "Dune: Imperium" I found it somewhat weird that they did not include Dreadnought models in it, especially seeing how they did inserts in the Deluxe version for the Ix boards. Obviously, Ix was already a thing. Anyhow it eventually ended with me creating my own: These are more or less kit bashed from several different sci-fi vessels until they started resembling something that could pass for a Dune Dreadnought. These models are not based on any reference from Dune whatsoever as I couldn't really find anything verified to be canon what a Dreadnought should look like. I used these with Games Workshop 32mm flying bases. The ring included with the model is used as an addon for those bases to show what colour/faction the individual Dreadnoughts belong to. Hope you will find these useful! How many do you need?
Technically each player can field two Dreadnoughts simultaneously for a total of eight. However, I have found that it is very rare for more than four to ever be used in a game. So I recommend printing just 4 out, and keep the original wood tokens around in the rare few cases you would need more. This is where the base rings in various colours come in handy, as you can just swap them out at will. Bonus Added 2022-03-22: Mighty Dreadnoughts
The Rise of Ix character "Prince Rhombur Vernius" plays with upgraded Dreadnoughts that utilize Heavy Lasgun Cannons to give them 4 strength instead of 3. I like to call these Mighty Dreadnoughts. I have just modified the basic Dreadnought to resemble this trait, but not going overboard and keeping true to my original design. Print two of these out, perhaps also in an alternate colour, and keep them around in case someone opts to play this character.
