, Dunkleosteus was characterized by an armored head provided with jaws with unusual dental blades. Although other placoderms rivaled it in size, Dunkleosteus is considered one of the fiercest and deadliest marine predators to ever exist. Measuring up to six meters long and weighing 1 tonne, this hunter was at the top of the food chain in its environment and probably preyed on all kinds of fauna.
