Simple dust boot for use with Vevor 3020 CNC/laser, should work with similar entry-level machines that use the same style spindle mount. Hook up to shop vac with 1.25 inch hose to help remove dust and smoke generated by milling, carving, engraving, etc. Designed to print without supports. Unlike boots that clamp onto the spindle, this boot attaches to the spindle mount. The Vevor and many similar low-cost CNC machines use an aluminum or plastic mount that is essentially an octagon with 8 sides that measure 1 inch long. This boot has slots on the sides that allow adjustable mounting, allowing the boot to be adjusted separately from the spindle or laser. For my plastic mount, I drilled and then placed threaded inserts with a soldering iron to embed them in place. For metal mounts I would simply drill and tap holes for whatever mounting screws you wish to use. Brush is from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VQX6CZG and is easy to cut to size. I attached with #6 wood screws, but feel free to use whatever mounting you want. I intentionally designed this to have an opening behind the spindle to allow fresh air to come in from the back, helping direct airflow across the bit to help cool it off, with a channel to help direct any dust, shavings, and smoke toward the vacuum hose. For durability, I would recommend using PETG or ABS, or even TPU, especially if used with laser. PLA may be too brittle, and may deform with heat from the laser, although if used with a continuously running vacuum source, there should be adequate fresh air flow to keep everything cool. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 2-10-2021: modified, taller model to allow boot to sit lower, yet still allow it to be lifted up and out of the way for easy bit changes. 2-10-2021: Added new version with access hole for spindle mount as well as better bottom for mounting brush. 2-20-2021: Modified to fortify the holder for the shop vac hose and increased height of flange for attaching brush. Also added channel at bottom to help guide airflow, especially useful if used without brush and with boot close to the board.
