As manager of the Albertkanaal “nv De Scheepvaart is responsible for the operation of the locks. She organizes inspections of the infrastructure in order to schedule necessary maintenance work. Inspections can be carried out in the wet but “nv De Scheepvaart” attempts, with a periodicity of about 15 years, to put each lock completely dry to conduct a comprehensive inspection and possibly repair the lock structure and its critical components (lock doors, … ). Both Duwvaartsluis Wijnegem as Middensluis Ham were recently inspected in dry condition (medio 2015) and restored. At this moment, photogrammetric data was captured and a 3d model was constructed to get a clear picture of the state of the lock and to be able to compare with future surveys.
