Dyson V6 Bucket Clasp

Dyson V6 Bucket Clasp

thingiverse

This is a Dyson V6 bucket clasp that I designed because the normal clasp/clip broke off from the bucket lid, preventing it from holding closed. It is low profile enough to still allow you to mount it on the provided charging mount. I recommend printing two of these complete clasps so that the bucket lid can be clasped shut from both sides and is evenly being held closed as shown in the pictures. Assembly: 1. Align the lever and arm together and press-fit the arm pin through both pieces to attach them. The lever should swing freely. 2. Place the lever+arm assembly onto the base so that the hinge end of the lever rests on the base's hinge riser. The opposite side of the lever and the arm should rest flat on the base (as shown in the CAD picture). 3. Place the hinge loop over the hinge end of the lever and then press-fit it into the slots of the base. The lever should swing freely around the hinge. Gluing: I attached the pieces to the vacuum with super glue (cyanoacrylate) after slightly sanding the plastic bucket and bottom of the clasp with sandpaper to provide a better adhesion surface. Be careful in aligning the clasp and hook so that they will work once the glue dries. Don't attach the clasp too far from the bottom of the bucket, but also not too close to the bottom of the bucket. The clasp mechanism should snap closed/open with help from the springy rubber bucket lid seal and should provide a (mostly) airtight seal. The recommended print orientations are shown in one of the photos which will minimize the need for supports (the hook and the base need supports). I have provided the .step and .f3d files in addition to the .stl's if modification is desired.
