DZP Mk. 2 M6C SOCOM kit UPDATED 2/19/21

thingiverse

This kit is currently in a prototype phase. It is designed to fit onto the Dart Zone Pro Mk. II blaster, and is meant to look like the M6C SOCOM suppressor from Halo 3: ODST. Please understand that it is not a 1:1 perfect replica of the M6C SOCOM from the game. This is meant to fit onto a blaster that is not the M6C, and has it's own unique geometry, along with needing to affix the handguard to the suppressor, whereas the M6C has the handguard built into the frame. In short, this kit is meant to get as close as possible while still fitting onto the Mk. II. If you are looking for an M6C SOCOM prop that is screen accurate, this is NOT a design that will satisfy you. It consists of 6 main parts: The two halves of the suppressor, the handguard, the grip piece, and the two grip plates(only one file for the grip plate, just mirror it in your slicer for the right side plate). The suppressor is designed to clamshell together with 5 toy-grade screws, based off the size and dimensions of the screws from the Mk. II's own muzzle, and this prototype version is designed to fit an 80mm length Worker scar barrel inside. The handguard slots into place into the suppressor and is removable. The suppressor has two main variants, with text and the Misriah Armory logo, and without. To install, start by disassembling your blaster, and removing the grip plates, then installing the grip plates provided here. Grip plate geometry is based on the work done by Haphazardlynamed, from these files: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4727600 Once the grip plates are installed, reassemble the blaster, and use 4 toy screws to screw the grip piece into the grip plates. Use 5 toy screws to assemble the suppressor, ideally with a worker scar barrel installed within. Make sure the handguard is installed in the suppressor before closing it up. Then slide the suppressor onto the Mk. II as you would with the normal muzzle piece. If you want to avoid any potential wobble with the handguard, you can glue it into place in the grip. Understand that the grip piece that looks like an extended magazine DOES NOT extend the internal magazine of the blaster in any way. It is purely cosmetic to look like the extended magazine on the M6C. Once i am certain that the kit properly prints and fits onto the Mk. II, I will develop other variants, including a smooth internal barrel variant, and an integrated printed scar barrel variant, so that a worker scar barrel is not required for the suppressor. Please feel free to message me here with any feedback regarding this release. Grip interface geometry borrowed from this M6G kit: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4689863 UPDATE: 1/19: Prototype slide has been added. This should just be a drop-in replacement for the slide, using the same screws. You currently have to omit the clear plastic piece that locks the slide once primed and chambered, but if you also remove the deprime lock in the blaster, this allows you to deprime the blaster even if the slide was locked forward. I have this piece removed on mine. Additionally, if you, like me, have added teflon tape to the plunger, barrel, and bolt o-rings to seal the blaster, the o-ring on the bolt should have a solid friction-fit against the chamber, and should stay in place without the chamber lock. I will see if it is possible to design a slide that can have the chamber lock installed, but it fits onto a piece of 1mm rod, and i don't really want to chance having that break. UPDATE 1/19 #2 Added text, logo, and blank variants of the muzzle that have the rail extended to the front of the suppressor. This is far less screen accurate, but it gives you a lot more rail space, and it was trivial to do so I just went ahead and gave you the option to use it. UPDATE 1/20 This is a friendly and very embarrassed update to tell you that if you have downloaded the files for the muzzle before this date, delete them, and if you're printed the suppressor already before this date, throw it away. The geometry that fits to the muzzle of the Mk. II was completely off. I'm not saying it's perfect now, but it should at least be *close*, not massively off like it was before. This was clearly an error made at some point on the development process that i never caught. It's much shorter now, and i've decided to move support fully to the full-length rail, so the half-rail variant is no longer available. UPDATE 1/25 In the process of fixing the last issues, i inadvertently created more. Go figure. Some of the interface geometry was about, you guessed it, 15-20mm too short to fit to the muzzle. That'd been fixed now. UPDATE 2/19 Suppressor geometry edited to give better fit. UPDATE 2/24 Further refinements to suppressor geometry.
