This design is to allow the fitment of an E3D v6 hot end to a Geetech Prusa i3 Pro B although it can probably be used with others if required. It's designed to mount to the rework x carriage and, for Geetech users in particular, the Geetech customisation of the X Carriage contained in one of my other projects:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1585254 Using the Geetech cutout version of the X-Carriage together with this mount allows the reuse of the original X axis linear bearings, the original Geetech extruder and the original Geetech extruder stepper motor. Even with the addition of the bed levelling sensor this mount, combined with the modified x carriage maximises the available x axis movement. The OpenSCAD source file allows the mount to be converted to a much simpler Bowden mount and it is this that I will be working further on to accommodate two E3D hot end on the mount, which is why the X axis travel needs to be maximised. Note that I have created a remixed version specifically for Bowden use which is probably a better option for bowden users...https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2707043 The position of the hot end nozzle on the mount is critical for the Geetech i3 to ensure you also get maximum Y axis travel. If the nozzle is too far out from the X axis then you lose travel at the 0 end and if it's too close you lose travel at the 200mm end. The mount is designed to be optimum for the Geetech Prusa i3 (Acrylic 8mm frame) but this distance is one of the many variables at the top of the OpenSCAD source file to allow this to be matched to your printer. In addition to the print you will need... 2 x M3x15 bolts and nuts for the hot end clamp 2 x M3 x 30 bolts for the extruder mount 4 x M4 x 20 Bolts and nuts to fix the most to the x carriage. I use a capacitance level sensor (6-36v 1-10mm) as it works well with the glass bed. I've also added the .stl file for a cooling fan duct and mount that bolts to the end of the extruder stepper motor and takes the original Geetech 40mm fan from the extruder. It's not the most optimised design but seems to work fairly well. The OpenSCAD file is a bit of a mess at the moment and I'll post it when I get time to clean it up. I printed it as positioned in the .stl file without any supports. Ironically using a cooling fan will improve the print of the duct so the second prototype was a much better print than the second so you might end up having to print this twice, using the first print to cool the second. Print Settings Printer: Geetech Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 20% Notes: I use Cura and print this with the mounting plate flush to the surface. I use lines rather than a grid for the supports and turns on supports "Everywhere". It's not an easy print and will need some cleaning up but it's not too difficult for the standard Geetech Prusa i3 to cope with.
