Update June 2017: For E3D blocks that use a cartridge thermistor, check out this link:https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2405563 Update July 2016: Added a new "Core Central" to be used with the old-wiring of the V6. This mold has not been tested. If you cast one, let me know how it works. Reusable mold to make a silicone cover for the E3D v6 hotend Covering the heater block will make the heater cartridge work better and improve the ability to hold temperature. Also, it will allow stronger airflows when using layer cooling fans.   Remember to run a PID auto-tune after installing this silicone cover. Notes: I've used Permatex Ultra Copper RTV because that's what I had at the moment. But using two-component high temperature silicone will be much easier to cast and with better looking results. FYI Permatex U.C. RTV temperature resistance is up to 316ºc, intermittent up to 371ºc. So it's great if you want to use it. It's meant to be used with the "Modular Screw-on M3 Stud Thermistor" by rp_one_labs . I bought mine from here: ebay link Please share your makes.   Enjoy and happy casting. Martin Instructions Recommended Settings: Layer height: 0.20mm or less. Infill: 30% works fine No supports. Print the parts in ABS and give them an acetone bath. Besides making a smoother surface, it will eliminate the cavities between layers and make a painless extraction. Use a mold release agent for an easier extraction.
