Earphones, from telephone operators to all of us

Wireless Earphones are ear-fitting headphones, using Bluetooth technology, to connect with a digital device, like a smartphone. Communication, music, or even privacy are few of the reasons people are using them. However, that was not always the case. Headphones were originally used by telephone operators in 1881, but as they were heavy to hold, French engineer Ernest Mercadier created the first ear-fitting, hands-free headphones in 1891. But it was only after 1958 that John Koss created the first stereo headphones designed for music and home listening. And from Koss to the first portable headphones launched in 1979, aka Walkman, to 2004 when the first headphones using Bluetooth technology were invented. Today you only need to take a walk outside to see people on the bus, on their bicycle or simply walking next to you, having their wireless earphones on. I will have them on. I guess you’ll have them too. Created by Katerina Alexopoulou.
