Earth with sandbars added

thingiverse

The globe of the Earth is taken from the ETOPO2 data base. The elevations are exaggerated 300 times and two sandbars are added artificially, for artistic viewing values. The bottom of the Pacific Ocean has a spikey topology. The Takla Makan Desert is obviously big and low. Mountain peaks above 10,000 feet rise above one sandbar that is nearly at sealevel. That makes a smoother appearance for Land. A second sandbar is at -10,000 feet so that the globe has a smooth sea bottom with islands spiking up from the depths. The lowest parts of the sea are filled with a level sandbar.
