EAS Challenge: Space Frame Rev1
grabcad
In the redesigned space frame, aluminum tubing and nodes are utilized for structure formation. Main stuts slip onto node branches and get fixed with stainless steel SLiC Pins. A standard 2-point seat fitting assembly is used to attach it to the track. Ball Lock devices, a commercially available fastening attachment, connects the structure to the table plate. The design ensures a safety factor of 2.71 and weighs 4.082 kg (8.999 lb). The structure comprises two main diagonal frames pre-assembled for shipping with three connecting tubes in separate packaging. Additional components, including Double Track Stud, Self Locking Cotter pins, and Ball Lock Quarter turn components, are also packaged separately. An uploaded Storyboard.WMV file shows the assembly sequence, although brief, it provides an idea of on-site assembly. All connections, except for retaining nuts for Track Studs, are quick assembly, and the entire structure can be disassembled into individual components for storage after use.
