Ease-up sloth hook

thingiverse

This is a remix of my pop-up monkey hook and AwesomeA's sloth bust. However, because sloth's aren't known for their 'popping' I've also added a bit to allow the the sloth to ease up and down. I've also swapped out the tail for a leg because the stubby tail of a sloth wouldn't make a very good hook. See a demo and instructions on assembly here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od7oWyg37pw The cavity to the side of the pivot needs to be filled with a non-hardening putty such as Silly Putty. The speed that the sloth comes up at can be adjusted by trimming the slots on the lever. With all of slots on there it moves very slowly even with a heavy object on the hook and a rubber band is required to help it reset(which means it won't move at all with light objects). With one slot trimmed off it moves moderately slowly with heavy objects and reseats a bit faster but still requires a rubber band and won't move with light objects. With two slots trimmed off you may be able to get it to work without a rubber band so it will move with light objects, but it does move swiftly with heavy objects. Some weight may be desired to help reset it if you are not using a rubber band. I used 5 pennies glued under the pivot arm for this configuration. If you are looking for a very specific speed with a certain weight you may be able to adjust further by trimming it in different ways, such as a piece out of the middle. All the parts should be interchangeable with the monkey hook parts if you don't desire the slow movement part of the design.
