A single, simple, design ===== 1. Print two of them to invert + place atop of a standard mason jar. 2. Fill said jar with your favorite filtering content. (*) 3. Add an inexpensive submersible power head, an inner + outer tubing, then enjoy the amazingly transparent cleaning results. -- We've lots of stuff like this floating round (pun intended) the realms - If you like this sort of thing, then like this one and ... we'll share more! Notes ----- The valve stem is designed to accommodate a standard aquarium tube with an ID of 1/4 inch (8mm,) and a 3/8 (10mm) OD. > (*) I'm ever impressed how well a simple, washable, cotton / cotton-poly washcloth will work. > > If you have **no pet invertebrates** in your tank (see comment, below), note that filtering thru natural (no soaps / chems!) copper scouring 'scrubbies also destroys algae, as well as - noted below - possibly **all** of your invertebrates. > > If you aquatic life is **copper-tolerant**, then 1 +1 = Put said scrubbie into a cotton sock, wire-tie same around the internal out-flow tube... and be prepared to kick some serous backyard-chemistry, aqua-cleaning-action around your tank! ***FAKE COPPER WARNING:*** Beware those cheap copper pads! Real copper is NOT magnetic. 100% natural copper pads will also NOT release chemical dyes & toxins into your water. We truly only get what we pay for folks - When in doubt, soak that pad overnight in water so as to TEST IT FIRST! (the 'scrubbie pad in the picture above was soaked in cold tap water for only 30 minutes - yikes!) ***If you can't find a genuine copper pad***, then visit your local hardware store to pick up some bare copper wire. Clean it, test it, then coil-in a span or three of wire, instead. p.s: Added "the basket" to use inside of a cotton washcloth / wadding strategy - keeps the out-tube from pulling-out the threads. **SOME MASON JAR LIDS RUST:** If yours are rusting, then you might try the next design @ https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3543847 **2019/04/07:** Added a remix of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1323393 to also provide some rust-free aqua-action.
