I have been designing a way to charge your Vive tracker while playing VR since before Track strap plus. Even when Track Strap Plus came out, I saw 2 flaws with it. Flaws: 1. It adds extra mass to it. Which may cause tracking issues when you step by making it bounce more than without the extra battery. Remember F=ma. So when that mass accelerates, those Newtons of force go somewhere. 2. It places the USB cable on the outside of the tracker. This is an issue because it makes it easy to damage the port. You only need to google "Broken VR controller" to understand that we may be unintentionally rough with our equipment. Just accidentally kick it the wrong way, and you have a tracker you can't charge, or update because of the broken USB port. I honestly believe that a custom cable connected to the POGO port on the bottom is the best solution. It does not add very much weight, and a cable is cheaper than replacing a $100 Vive Tracker. IMHO. This will also make prototyping with the Vive Tracker easier. As I imagine solid core wire and heat shrink is more likely to be available in your maker space than POGO pins. Setting it up after printing should be simple. Strip a solid core wire (The kind you use with breadboards) . Push it through the hole on the bottom hole. Make a hook shape then in the hole on top. Hold the wire in the top hole while pulling the wire from the bottom untill the wire on top is flush. Use heat shrink to cover and hold any exposed wire and to hold it in place. Feel free to remix this thing. I am also including the Blender file with the Cylinders I used to Boolean the holes in the pogo port. If you make one or use this design in your design, feel free to @ mention me on Twitter. twitter.com/Elocin_Anagram Printing: I used pink ABS. Feel free to use any material you'd like.
