The spool holder which mounts onto the back of the RepRapGuru Prusa i3 acrylic frame isn't compatible with ProtoParadigm's 5 dollar filament, and I didn't want to print out a large custom spool to fit over the 5DF spools. I had a PVC pipe that measured 1 1/16 inches in diameter, so I designed something to take advantage of that. I don't know if the acrylic spool holder comes with other printers than the RepRapGuru, but if it does, this spool adapter should work just as well for those. Update 2017/04/10: Added pvc-rod-spacer to fix a problem with the arms of the ProtoParadigm spool catching on the screws protruding on the inside of the printer's acrylic spool holder. Also added a solid rod model so you can set your own wall thickness. Instructions Print two of the 5DF_stabilizer-remix, and attach them to the spool as shown in the original 5DF Spool Stabilizer: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1397920 Print two of the PVC rod mounts, and slip them onto the tabs which are in the middle of the sides of the existing acrylic spool holder. Print two of the pvc-rod-spacers. If you have a 1 1/16" diameter PVC rod, or if you purchase one, cut it to size (about 112 mm long). Otherwise, print out pvc-rod-hollow, or pvc-rod-solid if you want to set your own top/bottom/wall thickness and infill. Slide the rod through the spool and spacers, with a spacer on each side of the spool. Place the assembly on the rod mounts.
