Edge 540 Cowl - Motorhaube

This is a replacement cowl for the popular Future models 38" Edge 540T. I printed it in LW PLA but it should print fine with any other material. It is in 2 parts and you will need to glue the parts together with a suitable glue. I printed the nose with 1 bottom layer, 3% infill and 4 top layers (but that was with LW PLA, anything else 3 layers would do). You could use a Dremel to grind a lot of the infill away after gluing but 3% isn't much weight. The mail body should be printed in vase mode obviously no infill , 1 bottom layer (to glue the nose to), no top layer and just 1 perimeter to keep it as light as possible. The cowl is actually 1 cm too 'long' so you can trial fit the spinner and align the cowl before trimming the rear edge for a nice fit. In LW PLA the cowl came out at 24 Grams unpainted which is what the painted original weighed so need to be careful with the paint. Printed at 100% this cowl is 115 mm wide by 130 mm high and the spinner ring is 125 mm from the fire wall so if you wanted one for a larger or smaller model it should be possible to use the scaling option in your slicer to re-size for any model. Maybe not 100% perfect scale but looks the part and if it saves a model.... Enjoy.
