Edison Gear Lamp

This steampunk lamp was inspired by the involute gear function of FreeCAD 0.15 and a marvelous "edison retro industry incandescant light bulb" that I bought from lightinthebox.com The big gear takes a while to print so carefully choose your slicer settings. The FreeCAD file is for inspiration. FreeCAD had become pretty slow towards the end, so have patience when opening it. Print Settings Printer: Custom Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.5 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layer height Infill: 12 % Notes: To print the large gear as oriented in the stl file, use supports for an overhang of 30 degrees. I have included some chamfers inside to avoid all the nooks and crannies to be filled with support structures. Don't use a brim, the surface is large enough to stick on its own. Print with two shells and 3 top/bottom layers. You can print the large gear upside down to avoid support structures. However you may find that the edges of the teeth, the fillets may not turn out well. In that case, tilt the gear to 180 - 17 degrees to get it flat on the bed. Post-Printing Paint the gears I used acrylic paint with brass particles. Assemble the electronics Mount the light dimmer and the E27 socket and wire them safely. Decorate Put whatever steampunk stuff you find suitable on the top surface, screw in the light bulb and you're done.
