also known as Ed or Fullmetal Alchemist ( 鋼 の 錬 錬 術 術 師, Hagane no Renkinjutsushi ? ), is the star of the Fullmetal Alchemist series. After losing his right arm and left leg due to a failed attempt at human transmutation, Ed became the youngest state alchemist in history by obtaining his certification at the age of twelve. Three years later, Ed has been completely absorbed in his quest for the legendary Philosopher's Stone, an element with which he hopes to restore his younger brother, Alphonse Elric, whose entire body had been lost after human transmutation.
