Egg for Vase Mode

Egg for Vase Mode

thingiverse

This model was designed for printing in vase mode for Easter. The bottom is rather flat to avoid needing supports. The idea is to drop in some coins or other surprises while it prints. Since the egg is in vase mode with thin walls, it is easy to break open to find the surprise. This idea was inspired by the need to create more eggs for our at-home Easter Egg Hunt next week. It is Spring 2020 and people everywhere are staying home to ride out the storm of COVID-19 and grocery stores are limiting what people can purchase. Our eggs are precious these days and we wanted an alternative to hard boiling and dyeing eggs that our kids won't eat later. Tip: Probably best not to fill with chocolate or other things that can melt. I printed using "Single outline corkscrew printing mode (vase mode)" in Simplify3D using 0.15 mm layer height, 0% infill, 1 outline/perimeter shell. I also used 5 bottom layers and 7 top layers since the spiral print likely would not have closed on its own without any top layers. I printed mine in duplication mode. ---- More of my models on Cults: https://cults3d.com/en/users/abbymath
