Laser cut cardboard, Elmer's glue, and an Ikea Hemma light bulb fixture and cord set make up this egg-shaped cardboard lamp. The Ellipsoid-SVG and Ellipsoid-EPS zip files each contain the 21 (svg or eps file-format, respectively) laser cutter files necessary to cut all the layers for the lamps. Sheets 1-8 each contain 3 rings; sheet 9 contains 2 rings; and sheets 10-21 each contain a single ring. The cutting process will yield 38 cardboard rings. How I Designed This The diameters for each cardboard ring was calculated using SphereGen.exe from my spherical cardboard lamp tutorial. The bottom half of this lamp is simply half of a sphere, while the top half is a section of a "sphere" from it's midpoint to three-fourths-point where the sphere was effectively stretched by entering a smaller "cardboard thickness" value into the calculation than the actual cardboard used. E.g., to produce a spheroid that is twice as tall as it is wide, enter a cardboard thickness that is half of what it actually is. So, if each layer of your cardboard is 0.17 inches thick, enter 0.085 into SphereGen.exe.
