Eibos Heat Deflector

Eibos Heat Deflector

This is a major design change from the original idea of the original Eibos filament dehydrator deflector design. Through physical testing, I created a much smaller design than the original that did not restrict the heat and flow, or potentially cause a hazardous condition. Reduction of the thermostat does not reduce the voltage to the heating element, therefor the heat coming off is the same high temperature not matter the thermostat setting. This can and will damage filament spools which cannot handle the heat. In my opinion, the original deflector created far too much fan/heating element restriction. This will likely lead to damage of the Eibos dehydrator and/or fire. My attempt at a solution to this is to create a heat deflector with less airflow restriction while still providing a barrier to spread out the heat from the heating element. I do not recommend printing this in anything other than Polycarbonate or Nylon. Printing this in ABS/ASA is a fire hazard. If you would like a deflector, but do not have the capability to print Polycarbonate or Nylon, print this design in PLA (Do not install PLA print into your Eibos!). Trace your PLA print onto 1mm thick Garolite. Cut out your design with heavy sissors or tinsnips. Add (4) - 3mm cap screws with double nuts to hold the bolts in place as legs (you can vary the length as needed). Garolite will handle far higher temperatures than anything you can print and will be safer. **My final thoughts on this project is that I really do not recommend using printed plastic of any type for the deflector. You are literally pumping heat and oxygen to a combustible substance. I personally am using my original idea of using Garolite, which will handle much higher temperatures safely. See images using Garolite and cap screw legs.
