Eiffel Tower/ Big Ben/ London Monument Hybrid.

Way back in 2014 on Thingiverse in the good old days I merged 3 iconic European monuments into something that the Canadians would enjoy. It is the "4-SIDE Eiffel Tower Bud Vase" by MakeALot, as the body "The Monument", also by him, as part of Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower's roof, and his "Solid Big Ben" also by him as the clock face. I made this model on December 5, 2014 before the movie Big Hero 6 came out in my local "cheap theatre" (It plays movies just before their DVD release dates), and before I had seen it or a trailer for it. The movie featured a San Francisco/ Tokyo hybrid city, with an Asian Gate/ Torii-inspired Golden Gate Bridge. I technically had created the joke in a different form (my version is Paris and London, while their version is Tokyo and San Francisco) before I knew of the film's existence aka I made the joke before they did in some case???. Update 2021: I have fixed major issues with the model. tower2fix-1_fixed_fixed.stl or Mtower.stl is the one(s) to DL, all the others are there to preserve them. I needed one of the old versions when I was doing a SFM model. For whatever reason, the not-up-to-date version worked, while the other did not. So that's another reason why I'm keeping them up. 2022 Information You might ask why 8 calendar years later I am still stewarding this design consisting of a mashup of Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, and the London Monument. The answer is that over the years I've had to keep fixing it via various repair tools. On my original upload I had sent thingiverse the collada version. The original author of the source components (MakeALot) had done an STL conversion of that upload. I uploaded an STL version of the model to the page afterwards. After MakeALot did his version I was in a position where I had to do several fixes, including deleting an erroneous spike that is clearly visible in MakeALot's instance. The fixes should also be helpful in other ways, especially to programs and hardware that complain about geometry. This STL binary model is 297k polygons and 892k vertices and 14 megabytes compared to the 8 megabytes of the unfixed version that had quite fewer polygons and vertices. That clock... at least now 3D Builder, Netfabb Basic, and Formware all do not complain or find anything wrong. Blender fixes and NanoDLP fixes end up breaking the model, and this model breaks aspose's checker/fixer. The erroneous spike comes from the Big Ben model I used, and it's fixable with a simple delete. However, using the fill holes command like I did may have had a cost. 3D Builder at least was fine with the model before I removed the spike, since to make the internal geometry go away I used what became Microsoft's 3D Tools azure fixer. Thus it was technically already fixed. Deleting those two tall thin spike triangles and filling them automatically made me have to go through so much trouble to get things proper again (multiple fixing tools). If I wanted to make a fixed version that retains the internal geometry I would have to deal with the big ben immediately, and given the whole scenario above it could cause issues just even doing the needed close, which is also why it could complicate remixing and fixing the clock itself. I don't want to ruin it. Also if MakeALot fixes it on his end it would be welcome, but keep in mind that the Big Ben model I used is a solidified version of the assembled model by MakeALot of his put-together clock. In MeshLab where I merged it, the non-solid Big Ben is far larger than the solidified version. So scale of a fixed version derived again from that 100 megabyte hollow clock could be off enough to cause issues with the merger of that fixed redux of the Solid Big Ben by MakeALot and his Eiffel Tower Bud Vase and London Monument model. I don't want to risk anything. Oh, and on the subject of this merger vision, I did it way back 8 calendar years ago (2014) out of boredom and it was absolutely stunning to see, and honestly quite iconic. It's probably the 3D work I am most proud of, and the creator of the source material loved it too! Here's the rub: One of MakeALot on Thingiverse's 3 components of the model was under CC-BY-SA, so I complied with it. When he converted my DAE to an STL (long before I fixed it), he was able to undo his own CC-BY-SA and license it as CC-BY. I then remixed his conversion to fix it and give the people who asked for him to make his conversion of my original DAE to the much better version that better version), and I put the files in the original (it's a long story). But in the long run, I was able to make this design use CC-BY licensing due to this story. Cults3D info: The version I uploaded to Thingiverse in 2022 managed to import, rendering this page an archival version with the licensing information above in the "Here's the rub" section, but unfortunately I am unable to edit the Cults3D description of the 2022 Thingiverse version that imported to reflect that. It's a complicated story of revisions, and this isn't an intentional malicious duplicate. For the sake of not being confused on which one to download when printing it, consider it the version to do it with unless you need any older versions or the backstory on the CC-BY licensing, for which you can get them in this upload. Please understand.
