I love the Elevation Dock, and was one of the first backers on Kickstarter for it. However, I have had to make two major modifications to it to make it useful for me. The first one was my Elevation Dock Wedge which you can find here on Thingiverse that tips the dock back by about 10 or 15 degrees so you can see the face of your iPhone when it is on your desk next to your monitor. The second mod is this one, which replaces the internal circuit board and cable with this clip which holds in any standard 30-pin iPhone cable into the Elevation Dock base. My circuit board in the Elevation Dock base has failed so when I plug in my iPhone, it charges for a few seconds and then disconnects. I can do this over and over, with any USB port, and it does the same thing. When I swapped a standard iPhone cable using the same phone and USB port, the phone would stay connected and everything was great. So I decided to remove the circuit board and connector and cable from the Elevation Dock and make a clamp plate to hold any standard iPhone cable into the bottom of the dock. To use this: 1.) Print out this Thing on your 3D printer (I used a MakerBot Replicator 1 using black PET plastic filament from MadeSolid), 2.) Remove the guts from your Elevation Dock, 3.) Feed a standard 30-pin iPhone cable from the bottom through the hole in the dock (facing the right way for your phone) and plug it into your phone, holding everything together temporarily, 4.) Place your phone into the dock so it fits well, and push the clamp plate that you just printed (with the angle side facing down) lined up with the original screw holes so that it presses the cable connector tight against the inside front of the dock, 5.) Use the longer of the original hex head screws to fasten down this clamp plate, 6.) Finally, feed the cable out the hole on the back of the dock, and replace the bottom aluminum plate on the dock. Enjoy!
