Eliminating backlash in prismatic joints

Eliminating backlash in prismatic joints

grabcad

The blue input crank of a sinus mechanism rotates continuously. There is a backlash (intendedly exaggerated in this video) between the red slider and the slot of the yellow slider (due to imprecise manufacture or wear). The tension spring must be strong enough to ensure that the contact between the red slider and the yellow one always takes place on the same side of the red slider. The last scene of the video shows that without the spring the output motion of the yellow slider will not correspond to the input crank rotation.
