Ellipse Gears

Ellipse Gears

thingiverse

A new design of printable Crosslink Ellipse Gears has been adapted from stickoutrock's original. This version is similar to natetrue's (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1538), but developed in OpenSCAD with a different joint type for increased robustness. The new design also prevents gears from getting stuck during rotation, as the joints do not stick out of holes. A video demonstration is available at http://vimeo.com/18244936. To use this mechanism, you need two pairs of gears and links. When connecting gears, ensure proper alignment by placing them on top of each other as shown in the DXF preview and matching their orientations before sliding one sideways for a perfect fit.
