Use case

Glue-on pads for cable ties are not a new invention. But sometimes there is very little width available on the intended surface. Along the cable there typically is enough space (otherwise the cable could not run there). So I came up with the idea to design these pads that are elongated along the cable.

Installation

If the available space is really small, and hard to reach with your fingers (like on the backside of a motorbike fairing or in some tight corners of a car) I propose to zip-tie the cable to the pad first. Put some super glue gel to the backside of the pad and press it on. Ideally clean up the mounting surface before.

Please note that PETG is not trivial to glue, due to its low surface energy. While there are a number of super glue brands that do work quite well, the safest is to simply use PLA for these parts. That will typically result in a very strong hold after a few seconds.

Of course you can also use double sided tape to glue on these pads, which is less permanent, if you may need to remove them at some point in time.

Printing

These parts are basically trivial to print. Just print them in the uploaded orientation with 100% infill and at least 2 perimeters (more is no harm). I propose to print at least 2 at the same time, to give the previous printing layer a moment to cool down.

Please like it if you like it, that makes my day!
