A chip guard for Emco Compact 5 lathe Disclaimer: I won't take any responsibility if you damage your machine or burn your machine down when you are using this thing. Use common sense when using it. This guard keeps the way cleaner, and the chips won't fly towards the motor and around it, there will be some chips, but it will be a lot cleaner back there than without it. You can use the M6 mounting holes of the travelling steady, you don't need to drill any extra holes in your machine. Print it as it comes, it can be printed without supports. You can easily take off the guard whenever you need the travelling steady or want to turn big objects, the chuck claws won't interfere with the guard if you stay in maximum spindle bore diameter (16mm) the guard can actually take more than that, but just check if it's not hitting the claws before you run the machine. It is made to work with 3 and 4 claw chuck, it also works with the original collet chuck, just check the clearance when using it. It won't touch the milling machine attachment vertical column, it has almost no clearance, but it won't cause any issues. I printed with ABS and did not see any issue with hot metal chips yet, make sure you check that too if you use PLA or PETG. Like I said in the disclaimer, I won't take any responsibility if something catches fire.
