### Compact enclosure for DIY "The Things Network" LoraWan gateway: Raspberry Pi + IMST iC880A + coredump.ch backplane This is a simple and compact enclosure for a DIY The Things Network [1] gateway. #### Gateway For the gateway itself you need tho follow the excellent 'From zero to LoRaWAN in a weekend' [2] and use the coredump.ch backplane [3]. #### Enclosure The enclosure is easy to print, no supports needed. Note that dimensions are optimized for a 0.35mm nozzle and 2mm layer height. All parts are designed with a 0.5mm tolerance for a tight fit. The M2.5 and M3 nut slots in the base plate provide a very tight fit so that the nuts won't come out once pushed in. My enclosure is printed with Nanovia PETG-CF, but any filament should do. The case can rest on its 4 feet, or can be wall mounted with the adapter instead of the feet. #### Securing the Raspberry Pi The Raspberry Pi is fastened to the bottom plate with M2.5 screws. The coredump.ch backplane is delivered with 2 nylons standoffs. The easiest is to push the nylon screws from the bottom of the case ans secure the RPi by screwing the standoffs on top. For the 2 others points, push the nuts in the case and screw from top. #### Wiring - The DC power is connected to the backplane either to the 5V input or the 6.7-28V input, depending on your power supply. - The fan is connected to the Fan output of the backplane. I used a screw terminal instead of the header. You can then control the fan from the Raspberry Pi. #### Fan A python script is available for conroling the fan on GitHub [4] #### BOM Aside the gateway as described in [3], you will need: - 1 Panel mount DC power connector - 1 5V 25x25mm fan - 2 M2.5x8 screws & nuts for the Raspberry Pi (The Coredump backplane comes with 2 standoffs and screws/nuts) - 3 M2.5x16 screws & nuts for the fan - 4 M3x8 screws & nuts for the feet / wall mount - 4 M3x8 screws with flat head for the sides (No nuts here, they are screwed in the enclosure tabs.
