For people who love tools, there is a fantastic little device out there for spot welding. Traditionally spot welding machines are based on a bulky transformer for providing the high current needed. Not this one. This just uses the simple automotive starter battery as current source and ensures that welding pulses are kept short in duration (2.6 to 7 ms). Accordingly this spot welder (without battery) is small and rather cheap. The spot welder basically is just a PCB and leads. This thing is a bespoke enclosure for the above referred welder and offers protection and design. Print all three parts, then adjust the connecting- and welding leads according to the holes in the top part. Tighten the PCB to the bottom part with two self tapping screws about 3 x 6.5 mm in size. You can glue a small piece of transparent plastics on the larger whole from the inside of the top part. This will be the window to check the LED. Then insert the button part in the top part, again from the inside. Hold the button from the outside and put the top onto the bottom part. Once everything is in place and after checking the correct functioning, use some glue (I used two component epoxy rasin) to permanently connect bottom and top part.
