Ender 3 (CR-10) Z axis Leadscrew Coupler Cover

thingiverse

This is a handy little cover for the Z-axis leadscrew coupler on the Ender 3. I designed it to prevent the heated bed wires from rubbing against the rotating coupler, which they tended to do in the enclosure I use, especially after I replaced them with better quality and more flexible silicone ones. The cover is mounted directly to the Z-axis stepper motor using two M3x10 screws. Keep in mind though that the stepper can sometimes get hot during operation. If you are not comfortable with using PLA here, print the cover in some more temperature-resistant material. You can also use the file with the "2-part" suffix, which is to be used with a shim that can be printed in a different material to protect the PLA cover from the heat. It may, or may not be necessary, that's up to you. On my printer PLA would be perfectly fine. The picture shows how it looks on the printer (the "release candidate" two-part version with ABS shim). For the best result print in 0.2 mm layer height and 0.5 mm line width. The two-part cover needs a small support.
