It is finally done, this is a remix of the Ender3Max Direct Drive bracket made by Fluffypancakes https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5175330 The original design is great, however, I did not want to do the limit switch mod and I also did not want to give up height on the Z-axis by mounting the stepper in that orientation, so I messed with the design on Tinkercad to turn the stepper 90 Degrees. I went through several prototypes, modding them after being printed, reprinting, trying again. The final V4 can still do with a bit of refining, but it works just great and my Ender3 Max is quite happy printing in the direct drive configuration, There is enough clearance for the filament release, even at max height although the cables rub a bit and could do with being rerouted. you would need 2 longer screws to mount the bracket as the original ones are too short(12mm should be enough) The cable of the X-stepper must be lengtened. Sliced with Prusa slicer...See what settings works best for you, but print in the orientation as in the pictures, this gave me the best results...
