The ENDER 3 MAX printer allows you to print PLA with the original mechanism, but when using FLEX filament the pusher system ends up tangling the filament between the gears, this is because the space between the gear and the metal nozzle that leads to the hose has much space and ends up taking the flexible filament to the side, with this piece you simply replace the original one and your ENDER 3 will be ready to print FLEX TPU.
