-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do not do what follows if you are not confident about working with Mains Electricity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In adapting the Ender 3 to make use of the Octoprint "PSU Control" plugin my goal was to not permanently butcher the machine in any way. Connections to a Raspberry Pi will be required and are covered by others on Youtube. Search for "psu control octoprint". Pull the mains plug out of the PSU. Now disconnect the yellow XT60 plug and disassemble the PSU from the frame. Then remove the plastic cover box from the PSU and any other 24v connections you may have made (it´s handy if the PSU is not tethered in any way.) Next disconnect the switch unit from the PSU and remove it from the cover box and put it to one side. Photo 1. Then fix the printed coverplate in place of the switch using the original screws. I am using a relay that I had purchased from http://bit.ly/2yrzW8n and installed in its custom printed baseplate. Other sellers´ modules may have different footprints and different screw terminal layouts. A replacement power lead was found in my odds & ends box with an external diameter of 7mm or so (much the same as the lead supplied by Creality.) Feed it through the hole in the coverplate and wire up the PSU and relay as shown in photos 2 & 3. The Common and NC (normally closed) terminals are used on the relay. EU colour code - BROWN = LIVE, BLUE = NUETRAL, GREEN or GREEN/YELLOW = GROUND. Then place all inside the cover with the relay unit towards the front in order to clear the PSU contact rail. A zip tie should be used inside where the mains cable protrudes to provide strain relief. Photo 4. The finished job is shown in photo 5 ready to be mounted back on the machine, but still needing Raspberry Pi wiring. I now still have the original cable (which, of course, could have been used by cutting the plug off the machine´s end) and switch assembly for future replacement if required. Goal achieved.
