One of the most common upgrades for the Ender 3 is a custom fan duct. I noticed that in a lot of videos, the reviewers said that it didn't make that much of a difference. So I designed a simple Test myself: Through the curvature of this model, the overhang gets slightly more steeper the higher it goes. I printed it in vase mode, so the seam doesn't influence it. The Arrow shows the "wind direction". Hypothesis: If one-sided cooling affects print Quality, Cooling/Overhang should look better on one side than the other. r/3Dprinting - Does the one-sided cooling of the Ender 3 affect print quality? I made a test r/3Dprinting - Does the one-sided cooling of the Ender 3 affect print quality? I made a test My Conclusion: I see no significant difference on any side. IMO, the stock part fan duct is actually better than any of the fancy selfmade ones, because redirecting and constricting airflow will lower cooling efficiency. Notes: It was also very cool to see that it went up to 80° overhang until making spaghetti. These are all just thoughts, feel free to correct me if there are any wrong assumptions. Happy printing!
