Similarly to the designer of this original project, I was looking for something slightly different, hidden from sight, not adding weight to the top of my printer and practical. The original design was almost perfect for me, but I decided to change some parts: made it smaller, so with tools on it is not bigger than a screen on the right side), thinner lid (to save material), v-slots on the bottom to not unscrew the 2020 top frame, slot into 2040 frame to enforce the weight bearing capacity and some fillets to make it nicer. After starting printing, I have quickly added a version 2 with cut off lot of material (nice wave design) to save filament and printing time (3.5 hours). V-slots fit nicely tight and I don't use screws. Yes, some other upgrades could be implemented, e.g. thinner walls, decrease the height (which recently matched the height of bed), add other tools mounts, locking mechanism for lid, etc, but with recent versions 1.1 and 1.2 I'm quite happy as well.
